DeckBarrier under-deck mesh

Product and sizing

The current planning reference is an 18 × 44-inch finished Type 304 stainless panel with 8 mesh. Measure the actual openings before choosing sizes and quantities. Ask about the black finish in your quote. Mounting hardware and installation are separate parts of the project.

Mounting matched to your deck

Identify the supporting material and show us the deck edge. FireTek confirms the mounting hardware, corners, ground edge and access openings with your layout before fabrication. Plan a secure attachment surface and retain access for inspection and debris removal.

Prepare your measurements

Record each run, opening height, slope, corner and access opening. Measure walking-surface height separately from the gap where mesh will attach. Use safely obtained photos to show the layout. Clear combustible debris and stored materials, retain cleanup access, and plan the attachment detail and ground edge with your installer.

Review your panel order, then choose the 50% deposit or ask for project help. Checkout identifies the priced panels covered by your deposit. Corners, additional materials, mounting hardware, freight and tax are confirmed during review; installation is separate. We confirm revised quantities and the final balance with you before cutting.

IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home

For decks with a walking surface 4 feet or less above ground, IBHS's December 2025 standard requires the outer edge enclosed from walking surface to ground. It specifies noncombustible, corrosion-resistant mesh with openings no larger than 1/8 inch, alongside separate preparation requirements. Review the complete IBHS under-deck requirements.

City of San Diego Zone Zero

For existing structures in the City's Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, the City's deck guidance requires 1/8-inch noncombustible mesh for decks 4 feet or less in height, with under-deck storage and debris removal. Existing attached decks do not require replacement under this provision. Existing-property requirements begin February 28, 2027 with phased implementation. Is a six-inch strip enough?

No. IBHS's six-inch provisions address base coverings and combustible-lattice treatment. They do not replace its full low-deck mesh enclosure. Plan the complete perimeter, ground edge and maintenance access.

What should I include in my request?

Send a labeled sketch with separate run lengths and opening heights, the finish you want, the project location and photos showing posts, stairs and access points. Identify which measurements are confirmed and which still need review. Include your planned installation approach so the material layout can be discussed with the right context.
