About FireTek™
Wildfire Resilience Built from Real-World Experience
FireTek™ is a wildfire resilience company located in McMinnville Oregon, specializing in
wildfire WUI ember-resistant ventilation and structural protection systems for homes in
wildfire-prone communities.
Our company was founded and operated by Blake and Owen Carney, a father and son team
with years of hands-on construction, manufacturing, building-code, inspection, and
fire-resistance experience. We saw a growing gap between modern wildfire requirements and
the ventilation products commonly installed on residential structures. Many existing vents were
designed primarily for airflow, pest control, or weather protection—not for wind-driven ember exposure.
FireTek™ was created to help close that gap.
We design and manufacture practical woven metal protection systems for vulnerable areas of a
home, including roof ventilation openings, retrofit vents, low-clearance decks, and roof-mounted
solar arrays. Our products are built to help reduce wildfire WUI ember intrusion and
combustible-debris accumulation while preserving necessary airflow, drainage, and normal
building performance.
Designed for the People Who Install It FireTek™ products are developed with contractors, builders, roofers, code professionals, and homeowners in mind.
Our systems are designed to be:
1) Fast and straightforward to install
2) Durable enough for long-term exterior exposure
3) Compatible with common residential construction methods
4) Easier and more consistent than loose field-cut mesh
5) Practical for both new construction and retrofit applications
Our product families include RidgeArmor™ for new construction and reroofing, VentArmor™
for existing ventilation systems, DeckBarrier™ for low-clearance deck perimeters, and
SolarBarrier™ for roof-mounted solar arrays.
Built Around Better Protection
Wind-driven embers can enter attics, crawl spaces, roof assemblies, and other concealed areas
through openings that may appear small or protected under ordinary conditions. Combustible
debris can also collect beneath decks and solar panels, creating additional ignition hazards
during a wildfire.
FireTek™ products are designed to strengthen these vulnerable areas using durable,
corrosion-resistant woven metal mesh and contractor-friendly configurations. Our goal is not to
replace the function of existing vents or building systems, but to add a practical layer of ember
protection where it is needed most.
Code-Conscious. Field-Focused.
FireTek™’s product development is informed by current wildfire construction standards,
prescriptive metal-mesh provisions, and recognized home-hardening guidance, including
principles associated with the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety’s- IBHS Wildfire
Prepared Home program.
We believe effective wildfire protection must work in the field—not just on paper. That is why we
continue to refine our products through contractor feedback, installation testing, code research,
and real-world building experience.
Our products are compatible with the following building codes and standards used throughout
the Western US:
The IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home Program, The International Residential Code - IWUIC,
The Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code CWRC, The Oregon ORSC R327, The California
CRC Chapter 7A and The California CWUIC (off ridge and ridge vents)
Our Mission:
Our mission is to develop practical, durable, insurance recognized and code-conscious wildfire
protection systems that help homeowners, contractors, and communities better defend
structures against dangerous wind-driven embers.
